Get to know Denise Motta!
Denise M. Motta has extensive experience litigating complex litigation claims in state and federal courts. Her litigation background includes personal injury, premises liability, bad faith, construction defect, insurance coverage, commercial litigation, as well as complex litigation product liability cases. Denise’s current practice is focused on insurance defense, but she has significant experience in the coordination of litigation on both the national and state level. She has vast experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device arena, which provides her with a unique perspective of identifying scientific and medical issues presented in the cases she handles.
Prior to joining Travis & Herbert, Ms. Motta was Associate General Counsel and Litigation Manager for The Rawlings Company, LLC, the country’s largest subrogation and reimbursement recovery vendor. In that role, she coordinated and directed the litigation of more than 200 subrogation files in varying stages of litigation and across the nation. Ms. Motta is an expert at issues surrounding healthcare subrogation, including the application of ERISA, Medicare Advantage, and Federal plans.
Denise has been a DRI member for over 15 years and actively has served on the leadership of various substantive committees, including Young Lawyers, Product Liability, and Trial Tactics. She was the Program Co-Chair of the Complex Medicine Seminar in 2008. She currently serves on the Women In The Law Committee as the Vice Chair of Public Service and is active in the seminar, networking, and membership committees. She also is serving as the Annual Meeting Chair for the Product Liability Committee for the second consecutive year. Denise recently was appointed to DRI’s Philanthropic Activities Standing Committee.
Denise is a Louisville native and a life-long University of Louisville fan. She returned to her Louisville roots from Cincinnati, Ohio in 2008 with her husband, Edward. Denise is the proud mother of Andrew, who was born in 2012. In her spare time, Denise enjoys exercising, yoga, and watching University of Louisville sports.
